To initiate a resource failure

1. Open Cluster Administrator.
2. In the console tree, click the Groups folder, and then click the group that contains the resource to fail.
3. In the details pane, click the resource you want.
4. On the File menu, click Initiate Failure.

• When a resource fails, it automatically restarts if a restart policy is defined for it.
• If a resource fails repeatedly, the entire group to which the resource belongs can fail over, depending on the failover policy defined for the group.
• This command is useful for testing the restart and failover policies of the resource and group.
